Destiny of Poor Worker
This blog page is dedicated to those workers who hardly make their both ends meet. Most upper class and middle class is excluded in this section.
The workers in developed countries who make only minimum wage set by government and worker of developing countries and third world countries who work hard for a minimum wage.
In BC, Canada the minimum wage is $10.25 per hour. So a worker who works 5 days a week for regular 8 hours approximately makes 1800.00 gross. A part of it goes to government as Income Tax and other deductions. These people have no job security. These are people without any skills. The skilled labor without certification ranges from 10.25 to 20.00 dollars. Averages around 15.00/hour and works in factories and service sector etc.
In country like India an monthly salary average around Rs 4000.00-6000.00 in Punjab for non skilled labor. Other parts of India may be slightly lesser than this.
But majority of people are in this category. If both husband and wife works together, they may double the income. On top there is no job security for these workers. Only workers working for government have secured jobs and also better salaries.
These people mostly struggle with life and always fall short of their budget. They live there life mostly in financial stress. Time have changed dramatically at very fast pace. Technology is taking over most of the jobs of general labor and skilled labor.
It has become so necessary to have good skills and education in your resume or otherwise finding a labor job is becoming more and more stressful and scarce. Even though it is hard for these kind of families to send their children to university unless the child is very brilliant and qualify for the scholarships or student loans. This is mostly true for developed countries. In countries like India the poor are helped through special reservation in colleges and universities.
University education is not only expensive and hard to afford for ordinary working family, but also very competitive. It is estimated about 20% of population goes to university. Rest shoots for college degrees, diplomas and certifications in various fields of work force. Unfortunately lot of students don't understand the value of education and either they hardly get pass marks or drop out from high school or college.
These are the students who are bound to suffer in their near future. Some goes into drug-trafficking and some goes to stealing. some get into drug addiction and other mental disorders from the stress of life. Majority of workers are under constant stress of work and income and develop various levels of depression and other cognitive disorders. Those who realize at later stage that they missed the opportunity of study and go back to school while working, still catch up with the life.
In developed countries mostly people have facilities of medical help either through work or through government and it saves them the financial burden of medical bills. But other countries may have some government facilities for workers but majority suffer from lack of medical care and medicine. It is next to impossible for them to have expensive surgeries for medical recovery.
People when under family stress and burden do not have any source of medical therapy to cope up with the stress and depression. This is the prime reason poor people find religion as their best source of help. They become religious and they do what religious priests tell them to do in order to get out of their circumstances and situations. They pray for more resources and happiness in the family. They are scared of illness or medical problems because they can not afford it. So they follow religion in a hope to keep the troubles of life away.
These people easily fell into blind faith and are often scammed and abused by some religious authorities. But they have no choice. The fear of troubles are enough motivator for them to become religious and followers in best possible way. There are always exception and there are some who follow religious out of love for God but they are rare to find.
People donate money in religious places in a hope they will get blessings of God in the form of child birth, nice job, no illness, no miss-happening, more resources and so on.
Fear is the prime factor and greed is secondary factor for most poor people (workers) to follow religion. Only exceptional follow God out of love.
In developed countries people have shifted away from the religion because they are more educated and their needs are fulfilled by their hard work and medical troubles are mostly taken care of by government hospitals and clinics. Their fear for unforeseen medical problems and emergency funds needs are less important and so is their relation with God which otherwise would have been driven by fear and greed.
But still it does not mean that they do not have fear and greed. They do just the intensity is low as compared to people of poor countries. We all are born with certain universal behavior and habits and that include fear of unknown, greed for more, jealousy, hate, discrimination, anger etc. The degree of such attributes are varying in every human being.
In nut shell educated person with needful resources is less worried about daily needs compared to less educated with limited resources. This changes the definition of a religious follower and the driving force to be religious: Fear-Greed-Love. It is not possible to be religious for anyone without having all three driving forces , but the needy follower is more driven by Fear-Greed and a contented follower is more driven by Fear-Love. A follower simply driven by Love is very hard to find and very exceptional.
People who don't believe in religion does not mean they don't believe in God. They simply refuse to follow the rituals of various religions. Both Europe and Asia have those people who refused to practice any religion. People do change with time and their financial status and their faith and belief pattern also changes with time and financial status. But biggest change in faith and belief pattern comes from education and awareness.
